FEMC,
Bedford Heights, OH
Marketing and Communications Coordinator. FEMC is a multi-million
dollar manufacturer of high-speed packaging equipment whose
international customers are among the world's largest and best
known. Formerly known as Food Equipment Manufacturing Corporation,
this is the same company that I worked for from 8/86
to 1/90.
- Reponsible
for design, layout and placement of all media communications.
- Coordinate
tradeshow presence.
- Provide
point of contact and interface with clients on large projects.
- Graphic
Design and Technical Writing support for all facets of company.
- Video
editing and multimedia scripting in support of FEMC's online
presence and interactive catalog.
- Webmaster
of the FEMC-Online website.
Accomplishments
Since arriving
in August of 2001 and suffering through the horrible 4th Quarter
economic environment caused by the events of 9-11-01, FEMC has
seen a tremendous turnaround in 2002. FEMC eclipsed total sales
for 2001 in the first three months of 2002 and we look forward
to a banner year in which gross sales for 2002 should more than
triple that of 2001. While I cannot claim personal responsibility
for the increase in sales, I would like to propose that I, at
least, had a part. What I can claim is that our media placements
and targeted promotional campaigns have increased client inquiries
and website traffic at levels mirroring the increase in sales.

MotorcycleWorld.com
Web designer of the Internet’s #1 rated motorcycle site (as
rated by PC-Data Online, January 2001). Consistently ranked
in the top 2500 for overall site traffic with more than 1,500,000
hits (on average) per day. MotorcycleWorld.com, unfortunately
like so many dot-coms, suspended normal operations on June 1st,
2001 (although the site continues to exist in a scaled back
form). My duties included, but were not limited to:
Primary
responsibility for the visual appearance of the site, including
production of all graphic elements
Development
and production of layout for Dealer and association sites implemented
in more than 20 cases. Examples are available to view online
at http://www.jereco.com/mcw/websites/
Filled
a support role in content management for the site. This often
involved story creation, editing of submitted stories or correction
of formatting and grammatical errors.
Production
of numerous advertising and collateral materials for marketing
department, including print media and animated Internet banner
advertisements in all standard sizes
Wrote
copy for several successful marketing campaigns, including “One
Wild Ride” and “Born to be Browsed”
Designed,
wrote, edited and deployed bimonthly e-mail newsletter which
typically resulted in a 30-40% spike in website traffic in the
immediate days surrounding delivery. Subscriptions to the newsletter
rose from 25,000 subscribers to nearly 100,000 in the four months
in which the newsletter ran.
Voluntary
implementation of website analysis reporting based on information
provided by Webtrends. These reports were used to fine tune
the type and amount of information presented to visitors.
Provided
demographic analysis used in developing sales and marketing
tools to promote advertising sales.
Provided
editorial support after operational cutbacks in March, 2001
resulted in the loss of our full-time editor
